Craftsy

I have been super, super craftsy lately! For Christmas, RJ got me a giftcard to the Container Store. (which he bought shortly before quiting his job there! Yay!) I bought craft organizing stuff, which has probably spurred my crafting streak.

Here's a list of what I've been working on...

- Two crochet hats for Mara. Super cute. One lavender pixie hat, one white pixie hat with cherries.
- One knit (in the round! First time I've used DPNs!) baby hat.
- A purple crochet hat for me!
- A felted knit, with crochet innards, organizer for all my knitting needles and crochet hooks. They are currently residing in a box, and everytime I need one, I've got to dump them all out and sort for the one I want. I'm not done with this one.
- Fixing two antique marble-top tables. Not so craftsy, but still. They both needed to be cleaned and have bits glued back together.
- A doily made out of rainbow thread. I wanted to do something more intricate. I have no idea what I'll do with it.
- A pinewood derby car! The cub scouts usually provide a saw for the dads to cut out the car, but they didn't this year. So I spent an hour or two this morning with my Dremel, carving out the car shape. It turned out pretty well!

Pics to come soon, but I wanted to get my list out there and start blogging on this blog again!

p.s.- I joined Ravelry. Anyone else on it?

Take Two

I decided to try again. Mostly because I decided to make two.

Here is my weird front door. Faux door on the left, real door on the right. Both painted a lovely shade of puke taupe. (I want to paint them orange, but RJ is vetoing that choice right now. )

A close up. I got a new garland of glittered leaves, and mixed those in with the plain ones. I threw out the styrofoam berry things.

She's Crafty, and She's Just My Type

I was crafty this morning...

This was a $3.50 garland from The Place Which Shall Not Be Named + cardboard and foam-core board that I had + ribbon that I already had.

I pulled all the leaves and berry thingies off the garland, and staple gunned them to the cardboard.  The cardboard + foam-core was thick enough that the staples were secure and not poking out through the back.

I stapled the outside leaves first, then the center, so that the staples would be hidden and to keep it in a rectangle shape.

The only problem?  I've got a funky front door- One real door plus a bonus faux door.  Now I'm wondering if I should have made one for the faux door, too!

Also, this is the extent of my seasonal decorating.  Enjoy!

Genevieve

This is not for MY Genevieve, but for a friend's daughter.  Again, you can't tell int the picture, but the background is shimmery, and the white lines are matte.  I like this one.  Super feminine, not girly.  I really like the colors, too- muted peach, pink and purple, with strong black for the ribbon, name, and there's also black on the edges.

Here We Go!

This is my latest crafty thing.  I haven't seen any name thingys that aren't super childish or cheerleadery, so I made my own!

You can't see very well in a picture, but the background is shimmery, and the name is matte brown.

I'm going to hang it on Mara's door.
